East Coast Music Week 2016 / Award Nominations Announced!

East Coast Music Week (i.e. the year’s biggest Atlantic Canadian music party) just announced the nominees for the 2016 East Coast Music Awards. A list of our nominated artists this year is below, and we are very pleased that Rocking Horse Road Productions is nominated for Company of the Year! The category is stacked, but it’s always nice to be recognized, you know? 🙂

As previously mentioned, we are expanding this year – and to help with that expansion, RHR is looking for some new peeps to be on the RHR team! Sync Agency Rocking Horse Road Productions (RHR) is currently looking for additional representatives to help increase visibility and business opportunities in Los Angeles and New York.

Based in Nova Scotia, on Canada’s east coast, RHR represents a roster of 75+ artists – the majority of which are Atlantic Canadian artists – from a very vibrant scene and a relatively untapped market. These artists are mostly one-stops, and represent many genres, from your traditional fiddlers, to punk, indie dream pop, rap, EDM, rock, and much more.

We understand that you may also work with another company within the industry, or have your own roster or clients. Please ensure that it is ‘ok’ with your current employer / partner / team that you take on this new responsibility.

Our needs for successful representatives are below. To throw your name in the hat – please send an email outlining where you currently live, your experience in the sync industry, and why you think you’d be a nice fit with Rocking Horse Road to info (at) rockinghorseroad.ca

The successful reps MUST:

  • Become fully familiar with the RHR roster, the clients’ catalogues, and the company’s vision and goals
  • Agree to commission based compensation
  • Attend events and meetings as needed (reimbursement / paid admission or fees must be pre-approved)
  • Have existing and extensive knowledge of the industry
  • Send any sync offers to head office for final approval and allow head office to take care of paperwork and payment processing
  • Sign a non-disclosure and / or non-compete agreement if required
  • Be able to work independently and be an excellent self starter

Sorrey / Not Sorry – New Signing for RHR Sync!

“Dream Pop Outfit” Sorrey has been on the lips of many an industry pro and music fan in Atlantic Canada since the July 2015 debut EP Thick As Thieves. Fronted by songwriter Emilee Sorrey, the band hails from Charlottetown, PEI – a place well known for turning out some of Canada’s most excellent pop and rock bands in the past decade or so, including Two Hours’ Traffic, The Danks, Paper Lions, and most of the Alvvays members. Sorrey keeps this tradition alive, and we are so happy to have Sorrey as part of the Rocking Horse Road family!!

Sorrey is available for sync, and as with most of our roster, is a one stop shop artist!

The first single, “Washington” was described by Exclaim! as “dreamy” and “...a shining example of their bubbly, summertime-friendly sound – despite the fact that it tackles the emotional subject matter and complicated personal relationships.” Take a listen to the full EP or check out the single below.


 

Happy 2016 from RHR!!

Wohoo! We come to the end of another year, making some fantastic new connections, signing wonderful new artists and creating some exciting partnerships. Now, moving in to our 4th year, we’re stoked to say that 2016 promises to be the biggest one yet. Rocking Horse Road Productions is having two new babies! Rocking Horse Road Publishing is rolling out this month, and there is another big project that we will be announcing in the spring.

This company could not exist without the support of our friends, our colleagues, and of course, our artists – so to all of you, have a happy new year and thank you for everything!
